An ancient and honourable tradition

Dragonfly believes in the importance of honouring the elders in our society. There is, in our opinion, a great imbalance in Western society with its focus on youth and anti-ageing “remedies” and a resultant failure to recognise the strengths of age. Through our holidays, our goal is to create platforms where customers can share and celebrate their own and others’ unique life journeys and the knowledge and emotional wisdom they have gained in their lives so far.

We are also fascinated by the developments in neuro-science that seem to be showing us that as humans our brains are much more flexible than we previously believed (neuroplasticity) and therefore much of the mental decline previously believed to be an inevitable part of aging is potentially avoidable BUT also reversable). There is growing awareness that one of the key factors in keeping the brain flexible is to continue to have new and different experiences. With this in mind, while we are mindful to keep our holiday itineraries at a relaxed and gentle pace, we aim to also provide a programme of visits and activities that can be stimulating and thought provoking.

When you travel with us you will discover that every customer is welcomed and recognised as a treasured individual and that together we aim to create an atmosphere of kindness, acceptance and friendship.

Some of the books that have inspired and illuminated our own ageing journey :

  • “Somatics” by Thomas Hannah
  • “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” by Dr Joe Dispenza
  • “The Tibetan Book of Living & Dying” by Sogyal Rinpoch
  • “The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook” by Clair Davies
  • “The holidays are expertly organised. Looking forward to the next one”

“I do appreciate not having to look around for somewhere to have lunch…so glad I found you.”

“I love not having to worry about getting to and from the holiday and meeting new and old friends”

“I think ‘Dragonfly’ provide a lovely holiday without any worries

“I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve travelled with you!”
